Compassionate Psychiatric Care in Hendersonville, NC

If you are struggling with a mental health challenge such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, trauma, chronic stress, or life transition, reaching out for help can feel overwhelming. Finding a provider who truly listens shouldn’t be.

Integrative Psychiatric Care

I’m doctor Joanna Gratton and here at Stillpoint Psychiatry we believe that meaningful psychiatric care begins with understanding the whole person; not just a list of symptoms or previous diagnoses. We take the time to learn about your experiences, concerns, strengths, medical history, lifestyle, and goals so that your treatment is personalized, collaborative and aligned with what matters most to you.

Whether you are navigating a difficult season of life or seeking long term support for a mental health condition, our goal is for you feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way.

Why Patients Choose Stillpoint Psychiatry

Dr Gratton is a board certified psychiatrist with more than 20years experience. Patients often seek care with Dr Gratton and Stillpoint Psychiatry because they are looking for :

  • longer unhurried appointments

  • thoughtful personalized treatment plans

  • a collaborative approach to decision making

  • a balance of traditional psychiatric practices that also incorporate

    integrative and holistic perspectives

  • care that recognizes the whole person - body, mind, soul, and environment

  • A welcoming and judgement free environment.

Mental health care should never feel rushed or impersonal. Many patients describe their first appointment as the first time that they feel that they have been truly listened to and understood by their mental health provider.

You deserve care that makes space for your story.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluations

A psychiatric evaluation is much more than receiving a diagnosis. Your initial evaluation includes a detailed review of your symptoms, medications, medical history, mental health history, treatment experiences, lifestyle factors, and personal goals. This allows us to develop a deeper understanding of what you are experiencing and create a treatment plan specific to you.

Medication Management that Feels Collaborative

Medication can be a valuable tool for many people, but treatment is never one size fits all. My medication management appointments are collaborative conversations focused on understanding your goals, concerns, previous experiences, and preferences. Together we discuss potential benefits, risks, side effects, alternatives, and treatment options so that you can make informed decisions about your care.

Our approach emphasizes thoughtful prescribing, careful monitoring, and ongoing adjustments when needed

What Makes Integrative Psychiatry Different

Integrative psychiatry combines “traditional” psychiatric care with a broader understanding of factors that influence mental health and emotional wellbeing. In addition to considering symptoms and diagnosis, we explore factors such as:

  • Sleep Quality

  • Nutrition

  • Physical Health

  • Stress Levels

  • Relationships

  • Lifestyle Habits

  • Laboratory findings (when appropriate)

  • Mind-Body Wellness Practices

This comprehensive approach helps identify underlying contributors to symptoms and supports lasting sustainable improvements in your mental health and overall wellbeing.

Do you accept insurance?

The short answer is, no we do not.

Stillpoint Psychiatry operates as a private pay based practice. This means I am out-of-network for all insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid.

I know that this can be a challenge for many. It is a big deal and can be tough when you decide to invest in yourself this way. However there are a couple of ways that we may be able to make this a little bit more manageable. They include:

  1. While your insurance company may not directly pay for our visits, in most cases they do cover (at least in part) any necessary lab work and prescriptions that I might order/ prescribe for you.

  2. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. You still have to pay for services as you go, and then submit the “superbill” to your insurance company for at least partial reimbursement of your costs. Check with your HR person and/or insurance plan for available out of network benefits.

  3. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Flexible Savings Account (FSA) through your employer, then you most likely can use those funds to pay for our services.
